Those fire tablets are fairly cheap and one reason for that is they don't spend much on the processor (SoC). They are more for 2d apps, video playback, and ebooks. The 3d performance is probably only 10-20% of what you get in the latest iPad.
This is a point that a lot of people seem to miss. Amazon has not positioned the Fire line to compete with the iPad since 2014, when they released the last HDX model. Even in 2014 the HDX wasn't much of a contender to the iPad. It took Amazon 6 years to release a tablet that even doubled the performance of that HDX, and all the while Apple has been leaping in performance every generation. The base iPad is around 4 times faster than the top-tier Fire. It also has a much better screen, which Amazon hasn't tried to match since the 2014 HDX either.
The 4GB/64GB Lenovo Tab M9 is on sale for just under $100 right now on their website. With any of those Amazon tablets you are stuck in the Amazon ecosystem so not the same as the full Android App store.
Depends on your needs. For some people, an Ipad is a better choice. I use Fire for reading newspaper, magazines and looking up stuff. Seems to handle most of my pdfs, but if I were a college student, it is considerably slower than an Ipad.
I guess you could use it as an Alexa type device. Ask it about the weather, play some music, set a timer, other Alexa stuff. You can turn on Alexa always listening or activate show mode I think.

Highly doubt that. Once in a while I run Zwift on my 2015 Google Pixel C without any problems. Sometimes laggy but working. Without investigation I am sure that a recent Fire HD will perform better.
I have a fire hd 10 which i tweaked to install google play using fire toolbox. Just search it on youtube. I use it to read news, youtube and social meds. It would be perfect for your dad.
While you can sideload Android apps onto a Fire tablet, I doubt it's got the processor/graphics "oomph" needed to run Zwift. I tried it on an older, entry-level Samsung Android tablet and the performance was so bad as to be unusable.
