Most sub-$100 machines never reach optimal temperature or distribute water unevenly. This one does both correctly.
The pre-infusion bloom feature mimics pour-over technique: it wets the coffee grounds for 20–30 seconds before full brewing begins, allowing CO2 to escape from fresh coffee and improving extraction. The difference is most noticeable with freshly roasted beans and produces coffee noticeably more complex than machines that skip bloom.

The thermal carafe pours somewhat slowly and can drip around the spout if tilted too aggressively. It's an older carafe design and newer competitors have better pour geometry. A small inconvenience for what is otherwise an excellent machine.

Carafe is impossible to clean inside…

The narrow neck makes cleaning the inside of the carafe a real chore. You need a long bottle brush and even then it's not easy. Gets funky inside if you neglect it.

I wanted to wake up to coffee already brewed. This machine doesn't do that — no timer, no programmable brew. Just a button. Deal-breaker for my use case.

Carafe drips when you pour…

The pour spout drips around the rim when you tilt it. Not a lot, but enough to make a mess on the counter daily. Older carafe design shows its age.

No single-cup or pod compatibility…

Makes a full pot or nothing. If it's just me on weekday mornings I'm making 8 cups and throwing half of it away. Wish there was a 4-cup option.
