I wish if Bose also put some efforts to make a new app. Moved over to Sonos as their app is miles ahead of Bose.

I personally am very disappointed in the lack of DTS. ... Removing it is shortsighted, and shows they are targeting streamers.
Unfortunately Dolby atmos is not delivered through optical connections according to Bose: https://www.boseapac.com/en_in/support/articles/HC2748/productCodes/bose_smart_soundbar_900/article.html
Little did I know that it would turn out to be a nightmare to update it. ... BOSE app cant list the device.
If you’re watching a movie at night, live in a flat or semi detached house, night mode makes all the frequencies volume at the same level. ... Don’t have to turn up the volume to listen dialogues and then quickly lower the volume when there’s some action scene going on.
It loses functionality and will get frequent interference from Bluetooth. I love it for music, but lots of unplug and restarts.
I had a lot of HDMI/CEC-Audio issues (no sound after some time after switching input types). However the latest firmware version v10 seems to have solved this issue.
It doesn't listen to commands and respond, AFAIK, like the 900 does.
This worked for me:
same standard response. Try Direct IP method etc. If any of the methods didnt work they initiate replacement which will take 5weeks as its shipped from Poland.
Hello everyone, I have been thinking about replacing my Bose Soundbar 900 + Bass Module 700 and Rears 300 with a Teufel 5.1.2 system for a few days now. ... What do you think of the offer or even what do you think of the idea?
✅ What Works
- Night mode dialogue leveling praised for keeping late-night volume manageable
- Voice command responsiveness works well when the app connection is stable
⚠️ Worth Knowing
- Firmware update failures reported, with slow multi-week replacement process
- Bluetooth connectivity drops and requires frequent unplug/restart to fix
- Dolby Atmos not supported over optical connections
- DTS support removed, a frustration for owners with non-streaming sources
Negative mentions outweigh positive ones (6 of 11), with firmware and app reliability the single biggest recurring theme. One owner describes a failed update process where support's standard fix is a 5-week replacement shipped from Poland; others report Bluetooth interference causing dropped connections requiring "lots of unplug and restarts." Codec support draws specific frustration too — Dolby Atmos isn't delivered over optical, and DTS support was removed entirely, which one owner calls "shortsighted" for anyone not fully into streaming apps. On the positive side, night mode and dialogue leveling get genuine praise for late-night, thin-wall viewing. This soundbar works well if you're staying entirely within HDMI/Atmos streaming setups and don't mind occasional firmware hiccups, but it's a weaker choice if you rely on optical input or DTS sources.
