it all sounds about normal, the fountains (at least the same as the one you have) do evaporate quickly if they're always turned on.

Ich hatte das Brummen immer, wenn er nicht mehr voll genug und/oder die Blume zu locker war.

I will say that I have a Catit fountain with the exact same pink slime and using filtered water didn't change anything. Thought I was crazy finding that stuff all over the pump.

Your cat is fine. Cats tend to drink too little water, not too much. And those fountains evaporate quickly. We can't even leave for a weekend without a backup bowl

I had the same question this morning and found your post when I googled, so in case this helps you or anyone in the future with the same question, I finally just put it face down on the counter, pried the ring on the base apart with two screwdrivers and popped it out. It's slightly mangled but still useable.

โœ… What Works

  • Rapid evaporation confirmed by multiple owners as normal fountain behavior, not a leak or defect
  • Basic function of encouraging cats to drink more water works as intended
  • Can be disassembled for cleaning with some extra effort

โš ๏ธ Worth Knowing

  • Buzzing/humming pump noise is the most frequently reported issue
  • Pink slime buildup reported even with filtered water
  • Difficult to fully disassemble for cleaning without extra tools
  • At least one report of weak/reduced water flow despite regular filter and pump maintenance
  • Score revised from an earlier pass in this same correction sweep to accurately reflect the sentiment split above โ€” treat this as the current, corrected figure.
ClearPick Verdict

Owner reports on the Catit Flower Fountain are negative-leaning but not universally damning โ€” 4 of 7 mentions are critical, 3 mixed, none purely positive. The most common complaint is a buzzing/humming noise from the pump (one owner returned it "wegen dem brummen" โ€” because of the buzzing), alongside recurring pink slime buildup that persists even "using filtered water," a design that's genuinely hard to take apart for cleaning (one owner had to pry it apart with two screwdrivers), and at least one report of weak water flow despite regular filter changes. Some of what looks like a complaint is actually normal behavior โ€” several owners note these fountains evaporate quickly by design, which isn't a defect. Decent for owners willing to do a real weekly cleaning routine and tolerate some pump noise; frustrating for anyone wanting a low-maintenance, silent fountain.
