Coway Airmega made a huge difference for me. Less dust, room stopped smelling stuffy, and my allergies chilled out after like a week. Been using it for over 2 years and still solid. Iโ€™d buy the same one again tbh

Brushless motor and a air quality sensor that actually works. Lots of replacement filters. No f**king app. We're 15 years in on one and would buy more immediately where needed.

The Airmega AP-1512HH Mighty will **not** tackle VOCs, smoke odors, or visible dust. To answer your question, it does look like a good price in CAD.

Coway AP-1512HH. Had it for about four years, still on the original fan, just replace the filter once a year. The indicator light that tells you when the filter is dirty actually works, which sounds like a low bar but I've had purifiers where that feature was basically decorative.

Seconding this, we have 2 and they work exceptionally well, and are very quiet on the low and medium settings. On high it gets a little noisy, but anything with a fan would. My only complaint is that if someone walks too close to it, it kicks the fan speed up and the light goes from blue (clean air) to purple or red.

My oldest 1512 has been running essentially non-stop since 2019. The sensor still works fine, just change the filters and enjoy. Iโ€™ve had three, all still going strong.

Other people might want to chime in, but the air quality sensors in these machines are not very sophisticated. They are designed to take an average of your air quality, so holding an incense stick above the machine may or may not trigger the sensor...

As far as clearing fur from the air: not really. The pre-filter does pull in dust and fur, but there will still be plenty on the ground and every other surface. It does get loud on basically all but the lowest setting.

Didn't realize they released the mighty2 like a month or two after i had to replace my first failed mighty(motor started smoking). I think i got 8-10 years out of my first mighty.

Yeah, they really donโ€™t blend into a room. Still Iโ€™m kinda annoyed that I went with another winix instead of another coway. The coways are borderline inaudible.

One of the big reasons I gave away my Coway AP1512Hh is the non existent odor elimination. The little carbon sheet they have does nothing. I found the Winix 5500-2 better for odors.

I feel like I'm taking crazy pills because every f**king review specifies how good the coway looks lol. And I guess it looks fine in isolation on a product page but it doesn't fit in either of the rooms that I have it in but whatever. It would be better if these were devices you could tuck away.

Neither of these will help with odor removal at all due to their tiny amount of carbon. Otherwise they're very similar and both would be a fine choice. One thing to mention is that the ionizer on the Winix 5500-2 is on by default, so you'd need to manually turn it off every time the unit is powered up. ... It's off by default on the Coway.

The AP-1512 is also called the โ€œmightyโ€ and itโ€™s a great purifier. Perhaps a touch less energy efficient than a Winix 5500-2, and a lot less VOC filtering but still a very solid performer.

It will be underpowered unless you plan on blasting it 24/7. Recommended room size is a little over 300 SQ ft but that's based on it's highest fan speed. You're probably better off with a Levoit 600s.

I wouldnโ€™t pay that much for it. I bought mine used and ended up giving it to a friend. The most Iโ€™d pay is $75 but thatโ€™s just me

โœ… What Works

  • Strong long-term reliability โ€” one owner reports 4 years on the original fan with a still-working filter indicator
  • Consistently credited with allergy relief and noticeably improved air quality
  • Quiet operation on low and medium fan settings

โš ๏ธ Worth Knowing

  • Weak odor and VOC removal due to minimal carbon filtering, a limitation shared with competitors
  • Underpowered for larger rooms unless run continuously on high fan speed
  • Auto sensor described as unsophisticated, reacting to averages rather than precise readings
  • Bulky footprint doesn't suit every room per at least one owner
ClearPick Verdict

The Coway AP-1512HH holds up well under real owner scrutiny (7 positive, 6 mixed, 5 negative among 18 mentions) with genuine long-term durability testimonials โ€” one owner reports 4 years on the original fan with a working filter indicator light. Air quality improvement, allergy relief, and quiet low/medium operation are consistently praised. The clearest weaknesses are practical rather than build-quality issues: minimal carbon means it does little for odor or VOC removal (a limitation shared with competitors like Winix), it's recommended below its rated coverage unless run on high fan speed, and the auto sensor is unsophisticated, reacting to a rough average rather than precise particulate detection. A dependable, well-reviewed purifier for particulate filtration and allergies; if odor elimination or a large-room footprint is your main need, look at models with more activated carbon or higher CADR instead.
