Someone was giving away a TOA-60 toaster oven that was malfunctioning. I picked it up and it seemed like the switch was bad. I looked into it and it was apparently a common defect... I managed to take the switch out and find an identical one on eBay for $6. I ordered it and replaced it and that fixed the toaster oven.
about 13 months into ownership one of the dials broke (the mode select dial)... The new one lasted exactly 11 months. This time, the bake time dial broke and would no longer "click" but instead snap back to the start position.
I love this air fryer oven, but I HATE the trays and racks it came with. It’s not stainless, and not machine washable- okay, but my husband used the cookie tray one time without wrapping the tray with foil (like I didn’t tell him!), and it now has burn stains that I cannot get rid of.
I love this airfryer but this basket SUCKS.
Had almost identical experience, although I went right from the 60 to the 130 and the fan wasn’t quite all the way stuck, just made a hideous noise. Took that back and went with another brand. I kinda miss the toaster oven form factor but so far very happy with the PowerXL fryer/steamer.
Had the same experience with the dial breaking. But I’m sticking with it because there is no other air fryers available that has stainless steel accessories. Lmk if anyone finds one.
Hopping in 3 years late to say that my TOA-60 has been running like a top with over 5 years of daily use. my only complaint is that the markings for the dials have partially rubbed off so it doesn't look as great.
This is #3 or #4 of the ones they replaced under warranty. Garbage, all. This one didn't start malfunctioning until after the warranty expired so I've been limping along for years with the knobs virtually unusable. Now it's become *actually* unusable.
I've been good about wiping down my TOA-60 after each session, but I have back problems and didn't see that I wasn't getting the baked-on stuff, especially in the tray slots at the back and of course, the fan grid at the top. It's starting to smell slightly burned at warm up, so it's time to do a deep clean before it gets worse.
I just cooked salmon according to their recipe . 400 for 20min( I did take it out at 15) and it was way overdone🤦🏼♀️🤦🏼♀️
I have the same unit, and have often wondered what the difference between the two are. I can’t hear a difference in fan speed either. Great little unit. I do wish you didn’t have to set the mode to “toast” for the toast timer to function. Seems redundant to having its own timer.
I bought the cuisinart during the $99 sale but having second thoughts now and thinking of returning because 1. Don’t enjoy the Analog controls 2. Heats up too fast. Haven’t got the temperature settings right yet. Thinking of returning and buying vortex pro during Black Friday sale.
I love my Air Fryer but had the same issue, the coating came off the baking pan in just a few spots with the first use when we cooked bacon.
After waiting 5 years for it to die, I realized how much money I was spending on food waste and time I could have been working trying to cook with my Cuisinart TOA-60. I decided to give it to a friend who swears they can live with its relentless fiddly cleaning needs and untrustworthy temperatures/cook times and look for a better option.
A reliable air fryer toaster oven at a solid price point. Not as refined as Breville but more affordable. Good for everyday toast, reheating, and light air frying.
