This is actually quite fun... I had the same exact chair, and also have a Aeron Remastered now :p My old chair (shown in this picture), broke just above the cylinder thingy that you use to adjust height!

You can get refurbished chairs like this for half the price, and they feel and look like new. I bought a refurb last year for less than half the price, and no regrets.

I have always used cheap office depot chairs. For personal reasons I asked to switch from hybrid model to fully remote. That came with a few perks including a fully set office, in my case they sent me a heramn miller aeron similar to this one. Honestly it has been an amazing chair for the last 3 years. It is pricey but at the end you will spend hours every day at work so it is a great investment.

First of all there really are no fake aeron chairs. It's very distinct and the only thing close to it is a steel case chair. Secondly there are bumps under the lip of the head area; one dot for size A, two for B, and three for C. Also every aeron chair should have a manufacturing sticker underneath which states what year it was manufactured. Even if you get an older used one, there are a ton of part sellers online to replace every part of the chair. I have two: one at home and one at my cubicle at work. I've replaced the gas cylinder on one, wheels on the other, added a head rest to both.
