I really like it so far, but my sense is I haven't scratched the surface of the possibilities.

This unit has the worst plastic smell I've ever encountered in an appliance and an airfryer. ... Sadly i love the unit , what it does---how it works--Sadly I don't like the smell.

Why does the Instant Vortex Pro make so much noise (and yes, I've tried to figure out how to turn off the sound)?

Yes, I've been making a variety of things and loving it. ... I expected this when I bought my Vortex Pro, and was disappointed to find a booklet similar to that provided with the InstantPot was not included.

But I love my Vortex. Been making mini pizzas in it and they are incredible, fast too!

And it works great as a toaster. You just have to tinker with times and temps because the air circulation doesn’t turn off so everything cooks faster.

The basket isn’t too bad to clean. ... It’s worth it.

Worked like a charm. The fresh air and sun does a lot.

Honestly I think it's a great product minus the fumes. Rotisserie is cool, toasting works, everything else air frier works.

I still like it and use it a lot. The biggest downside is because they’re trays with holes, you have to take the trays out to rotate or turn food and everything drips on the open door.

✅ What Works

  • Repeated praise for cooking results — described as "incredible" for foods like mini pizzas, with fast cook times
  • The basket is reported as easy to clean, not a hassle owners dread
  • Works well as a toaster substitute if you're willing to tweak times and temps for the always-on air circulation

⚠️ Worth Knowing

  • Multiple owners report a strong plastic smell in the first days of use — several say running it empty outdoors in fresh air resolves it, but budget for a break-in period
  • Noise is a recurring complaint, with no way to disable the sound according to at least one owner
  • The tray design (holes for airflow) causes some spillage when rotating or turning food mid-cook — a minor but repeated annoyance
ClearPick Verdict

Owners on r/airfryer are **mostly happy with the Vortex Pro's cooking results**, with repeated praise for crisping performance, ease of cleaning, and use as a toaster substitute. The most common complaint is noise, and a subset of owners report **a strong plastic smell out of the box that eventually airs out** — a real break-in issue worth planning for, not a dealbreaker for most.
