Yes. I bought my 800 5 years ago for $550, and have gotten hundreds of great smokes out of it.

If you're comfortable spending another few hundred in mods (if you want it to last), it won't disappoint. Amazing flavor and super easy to use and clean. Goes from 225⁰ to 400⁰ in about 3 minutes.

My biggest peeve and why I lost trust with the app, was during an overnight cook connectivity got lost and the app kept reporting the old temperature, instead of indicating it has no recent reading, when the fire had gone out having consumed all the fuel... I was waking up every two hours to check the app (again no alarms), and did not realize the problem.

I feel like it's worth $600 ish so if you can get it for that it's a deal. There are some bolts that could/should have been stainless but function wise I love it. I feel like I use way less charcoal than I did with previous grills... it actually helps me prevent overcooking as well.

Ive heard mixed things with those. For that price could get a pitboss pro/competition. Quite happy with mine after a few years

The right side near the firebox runs hot. It was set to 250, but right side was reading 325 on my ChefIQ thermometer... Overall I'm excited to get used to smoking on this thing.

Will add pics after 4 hour rest but i gotta say this s*** looks indistinguishable from when I cook on the offset, jiggles so well too!
Comparison

✅ What Works

  • Charcoal flavor consistently praised as authentic, described as indistinguishable from an offset smoker
  • Heats and adjusts quickly (225°F to 400°F in about 3 minutes per one owner)
  • Several long-term owners report years of reliable smokes and strong value at typical sale prices

⚠️ Worth Knowing

  • WiFi app reliability is a concern — a single detailed report describes losing connection mid-cook while the app kept showing stale temperature data with no alarm
  • Some owners note uneven heat, with the side near the firebox running hotter than the set temperature
  • Getting the most consistent long-term performance may require aftermarket mods, adding to real cost
ClearPick Verdict

Owner feedback on the Gravity Series 800 is largely favorable — 3 of 7 mentions positive, 3 mixed, 1 negative — but the app is a real trust issue for at least one owner. A single, detailed report describes losing WiFi connectivity mid-overnight-cook while the app kept displaying a stale temperature reading with no alarm, so the fire went out unnoticed for hours. Other owners note uneven heat, with the side near the firebox running hotter than the set temperature. Flavor is the strongest praise point, with results described as indistinguishable from an offset smoker, and heat-up speed (225°F to 400°F in about 3 minutes) is a genuine convenience. A strong pick for flavor and speed if you check on cooks periodically rather than relying entirely on app alerts; buyers who need bulletproof remote monitoring should treat the app as a bonus, not a guarantee.
