I see a lot of people on Zwift who need a similar "recalibration". I'm not proud, but I Strava-stalked a guy who set all of the fastest times on the route I rode yesterday. He posted a ride where he supposedly averaged 425 watts for two hours. Sure buddy. The one outside ride he's done in the past four months was 18 miles at 16mph avg. Maybe a small clue to him that his Zwift numbers are fake.

I had discomfort when I started with the bike, but after about a month, or 10 or so rides, my body had a better tolerance for that pressure and I no longer feel that pain/discomfort even on the stock seat they provide. The Schwinn memory foam seat cover is a nice addition to alleviate some of that discomfort immediately though.

I've been using the IC4 for a little over a month and have found that the resistance seems to be 10-15 under what the instructor calls out for peloton. My cadence has been spot on, however if you do pedal backwards at all the bike quits sending data.

I did a couple tests comparing IC4 output as reported in the Kinetic app with my power pedals (Favero Assioma Uno) ... The main takeaway from these tests is that Kinetic underestimates output at high cadence/low resistance, and overestimates output at low cadence/high resistance, while a power meter would be reading similar output.

I have been using the bike for about a month and for the most part I am very happy. Smooth quiet and sturdy. I am 6'1" 220 wife is 5'1" 120 and it fits both of us. I ride on the road during the warmer months but wanted something for the winter. I bought the schwinn version if for no other reason than a mat is not worth the $100 dollars.

Regarding the Peloton app suddenly stopping when you stop pedaling, it appears that this issue actually occurs (and is 100% reproducible) whenever the pedals move BACKWARDS, even for a tiny bit. Because of the heavy weight of the flywheel and its smooth, friction-free, rotation, it is almost impossible to **not** have the pedals move backwards, even when we think we are keeping our feet absolutely still.

I already owned a Schwinn IC4 Spin Bike, so I started with that. I knew that my output was inflated ... I installed them three days ago, and my first ride was honestly soul-crushing. My watts dropped off a cliff ... I was NOT prepared for a nearly 40% decrease.

I just assembled and started riding a Schwinn IC4 bike. Now I've taken many spinning classes over the years at different gyms and studios on Schwinn spinners as well as spinners from other manufacturers and this bike seems as solid and well-built as the others I've ridden. But this bike is so loud! It almost sounds as though there's a wire brush attached to the chain and it's rubbing against the chain guard box as I push the pedals. It's so loud that I have to turn the sound up really high on my iPhone to hear my music through my AirPods when I'm riding. This is very disconcerting.

Will the difference in "ride feel" be that much better on the Zwift Ride than a spin bike? I do find that the spin bike's upright position to become uncomfortable on longer rides of an 1hr+.

โœ… What Works

  • 100 micro-adjustable magnetic resistance levels give more precise workout control than any comparable bike in this price range โ€” Canadian cyclists using Zwift and Peloton app consistently note the resistance granularity matches what instructors call out better than cheaper bikes
  • Native Bluetooth connectivity syncs with Peloton app, Zwift, JRNY, and any ANT+ or Bluetooth fitness platform โ€” gives you the Peloton experience at a fraction of the cost by using your own tablet with a $13/month Peloton app subscription instead of $44/month
  • 40 lb flywheel delivers a smooth, road-like momentum that budget bikes with lighter flywheels can't replicate โ€” Reddit's indoor cycling community consistently cites the flywheel weight as the reason the IC4 feels premium
  • Dual-sided SPD pedals, included 3 lb dumbbells, and dual water bottle cages make it a complete home cycling setup out of the box

โš ๏ธ Worth Knowing

  • No built-in screen โ€” you need your own tablet or phone for any guided workout content, which is actually why it pairs so well with the cheaper Peloton app subscription
  • Assembly is involved and the bike is heavy โ€” factor in setup time and potentially having a second person available for the initial build
  • Better for serious cyclists who want app integration than casual users who just want a simple stationary bike โ€” the IC3 at a lower price is the better choice if Bluetooth connectivity doesn't matter to you
ClearPick Verdict

Reddit owners split on the IC4's numbers. The most repeated complaint, appearing across multiple threads, is that displayed resistance and power output run well above real-world wattage โ€” one Zwift rider saw a 40% drop in FTP after switching to power meter pedals, and Peloton app users routinely report the bike calling out cadence 10-15% off. A second recurring issue is that the console stops logging data the instant the pedals move backward, which happens more than riders realize given the flywheel's momentum. Owners who bought it for build quality, seat comfort, and quiet gym-style rides are still satisfied; anyone training to a power number should budget for a separate power meter.
