I must admit this is kind of comical, support for the 2nd gen Pencil should have been implemented. I predict many people who already have the 1st gen Pencil to use with their iPad 10 would be annoyed to find out they need a dongle afterwards (assuming they no longer have any older devices to charge the Pencil from).

I bought the 10th gen iPad like a week ago. I use it for reading primarily. After watching a tonne of videos and reviews, I realized that this was the best value for money option based on design, speakers and overall usability.

4k downloaded movies take a lot of space; however, the 9th Gen is still a good, fast tablet for 99.9% of people (including for your use case). App updates continue for a year to two after software updates end so 9th Gen should be usable for another 3-4ish years (add 1-2 years to that for the 10th Gen)
