That said, yes by direct comparison the Flight is better in almost all measurements. Comfort, quality, durability, and sound are all better. I trialed the HS70 but it clamps down too hard and the earcups are too small so my ears were pinched against my head ... So I returned it, trialed the Arctis 7, returned those, and finally found a good sale on the Flights. Been using them since.

I would definitely go with Cloud Flight for the wireless headset. For a wired headset I would go with the HyperX Cloud Alpha's instead.

I honestly think the original Flight is a good wireless headphone, not just for a gaming headset. The bass is just a little boomy and boosted, but otherwise the sound quality is pretty good ... the wireless convenience makes up for the gap to an extent. As I said if I could only keep one headphone it might just be the original flight.

Had these for a while now, and I still think the original Flight is better. It sounds better IMO, and is not plagued with the high level of white noise the S has. It's simple, to the point, sounds great, comfy. Just rocks.

Hi, I have the same problem as well, but my headphone had been bought for over a year, which means the warranty is over.. do I need to pay the money for repair? it seems a global problem instead of my personal fault.

Im having the exact same issue, where i try to increase it and it decreases. My temporary solution is to slighlty push the wheel to the left while i scroll it, which manages to touch the sensor inside or something and correctly adjust the audio. So it seems this is a hardware issue

Did you manage to solve your issue???? I have the same issue with mine. I've updated the headphones but the problem is nowhere to be solved. I had to use volume controls in windows in order to avoid this erratic behavior.

I have got the hyperx cloud flight wireless headset for more than a year now. But my volume scroll wheel is not working properly whenever I adjust the volume by the scroll wheel whether i turn it down or up , it always works in an erratic way. So i just adjust the volume on my pc.

โœ… What Works

  • Comfort and overall build rated better than rivals like the HS70 and Arctis 7 by some long-term owners
  • Long battery life valued by owners who don't want to recharge frequently
  • Sound quality considered solid for a wireless gaming headset by several long-term users

โš ๏ธ Worth Knowing

  • Volume/scroll wheel widely reported as erratic or failing, described as a recurring hardware defect
  • A detailed report describes an audio driver in one ear cup failing entirely after just hours of use
  • Problems often surface after the warranty period, leaving owners to pay out of pocket for repairs
ClearPick Verdict

Owner sentiment on the Cloud Flight Wireless is unanimously negative in this sample, 6 of 10 mentions critical, and the volume control is the dominant complaint. Multiple owners independently report the scroll wheel behaving erratically โ€” turning it up decreases volume and vice versa โ€” describing it as a hardware defect that persists even after firmware updates, with some stuck paying for repairs once the warranty lapses. A separate report describes one ear cup losing audio entirely after only hours of use. That said, several long-term owners still rate comfort and sound highly, with some calling the original Flight better than newer HyperX models and worth keeping over rivals like the Arctis 7. Fine for casual buyers who find a good sale price and don't mind troubleshooting via Windows volume controls; skip it if wireless reliability and precise in-headset volume control matter to you.
