McAfee and Norton are as intrusive, obstructive, bothersome, and dangerous as actual viruses. I would recommend AVG Free or Microsoft Security Essentials. I would waste *no* time in uninstalling McAfee. When you go into your Add/Remove Programs panel, check around--there are usually multiple different McAfee "utilities" you'll need to uninstall.

I work for Frontier Communications. Frontier 'acquired' Verizon's old DSL markets. Verizon put McAfee AV on their customer's PCs. Customers that got the 'premium' version also got Parent Controls... Which... If you ever forget the password... Ever... You have to format your HDD to get rid of McAfee... We get tons of customers we have to tell that to... Imagine our pain.

It's ridiculous. I've already decided to stop giving them money. I looked around online and all the seemingly helpful functions and articles from their website came up as being no longer available. So they deleted the helpful comments and articles to keep people buying an incomplete product.

Tier 2 called me today and told me that shutdown after scan function as well as the pause scan function had been dropped from R33. He said that multiple complaints had been received and that he would refer mine to "engineering." I'm up to R34 now and can see no differance.

They are large square ads that randomly pop up and consume the bottom right corner of the screen. This is where I like to keep my Trash bin but it is frequently becoming covered by McAfee's ads. Unlike the other annoying company's ads "MS" which disappear after a few brief seconds, McAfee's do not. They remain Big-Bold-and Ugly until you click the "X' in the top right box.
