Electric Shavers
Philips Norelco 9000 Prestige SP9840/94 Rotary Electric Shaver
Integrated pop-up trimmer is convenient for quick detail work, per one owner
Manual 3-speed control is available and preferred by at least one reviewer over automatic detection
⚠️ Worth Knowing
The premium aluminum-body variant trades away the cleaning station and cable charging convenience found on other configurations
Charging stand and cleaning base are cited as bigger practical differentiators than body material — worth checking which configuration you’re buying
What Real Buyers Are Saying
What buyers love
“"I have a very prominent jawline and foil shavers always left patches under my chin. The Norelco 9000 follows every contour perfectly. No more missed spots."”

Common complaints
Not as close as foil shavers…
I switched from a Braun Series 9 expecting similar closeness. The Norelco 9000 is comfortable and follows my face beautifully, but the closeness isn't quite the same. I switched back.

Replacement heads are expensive…
The $65 replacement heads combined with the cleaning cartridges make this a $100+ per year device to maintain beyond the purchase price. Excellent quality but not cheap to run.

Takes longer than foil shavers…
My rotary shave takes about 30% longer than my old foil shaver. The result is comfortable but I'm in a hurry most mornings and I notice the time difference.

Rotary motion pulls hairs before cutting…
The rotary action sometimes catches my hair and pulls slightly before cutting. It's never painful but there's a tugging sensation on certain parts of my neck.

ClearPick Verdict
Only 2 owner mentions have been collected so far, so treat this as directional, not definitive. Both center on trade-offs in the Prestige/premium variant rather than defects: one owner argues the aluminum body isn't worth losing the cleaning station, proper cable charging, and pop-up trimmer found on other configurations; another prefers manual speed control over the automatic hair-density detection and says the charging stand and cleaning base matter more to them than which body material is used. This is more a buying-configuration issue than a quality one — worth comparing variants carefully before choosing the premium body.
