It's great. What did I ever do without lidar and auto-empty in earlier models? I don't think there's any other feature higher end bots have that Q8+ doesn't have that I might need.

Same experience here. This robot is excellent value for money. I also use the mop function occasionally, and it works quite well. When I see the prices of Roborock robots with autonomous mops that require water changes every three days and have a higher risk of breakdowns, I don't regret choosing this model.

Q8 Max+ is the only choice if you want a Roborock in the low range segment, the new ones are horrible. Yes get the "+" version, the self-emptying base becomes addictive once you try it. The bags are not a *real* problem, you can get a pack of 3 genuine Roborock ones for less than a tenner and it will last almost a year.

Roborock are a decade ahead of Roomba tech. Very likely the Chinese firms stole Roomba tech years ago, and then invested own R&D to race ahead. It's not close anymore, not sure why anyone would buy a Roomba.

for that kind of money you get a (1500€) Roborock S8 Pro Ultra. But I imagine that the Q8 Max+ is good enough.

If you were even thinking about buying something at that price (the Dyson), don't downgrade yourself by buying the mid-tier from roborock. Buy the S8 or the Q Revo, and do it quickly!

I bought two Q8 Max units, one for my home and one for my mother. However, both of my Q8 Max devices have a very annoying issue: the dirt is not stored in the dustbin but gets stuck in the main brushes (even though I clean the robot regularly). This issue even caused a piece of wood to get stuck and damage one of the brushes on the Q8.
