yes - the vitamix will make a completely smooth, homogenous mixture. I used to throw flax seeds and chia seeds into a shake and they'd be completely incorporated. it'll take care of the berry skins/seeds with no problem. It also is great for making green shakes like spinach/kale shakes --- because it gets so smooth, it tastes much better than a green shake made in an ordinary blender.
the E310 complaints are mostly about ice -- for smoothies and soups its genuinely fine. the motor is the same class, the difference is bowl shape and blade angle ... honestly if you're mostly doing smoothies, a refurb from vitamix's own certified refurb store is the move -- usually $250-300, serviced and warrantied. hard to argue with that
I had a very old Vitamix and made the mistake of tossing it for a new ninja. I had a few weeks of starting every day with a simple protein shake blended with ice. The ninja cannot get the ice as fine as I'd like it, no matter how long I blend. It is simply an inferior product. I'm pretty sure will be dropping the money for a new Vitamix this year when it's on sale.
Actually frozen fruit is harder to blend than ice. I nearly killed my Vitamix blending frozen strawberries. I called the company and they told me to set berries on the counter for 10 minutes before blending them and then sent me a replacement part for free.
Vitamix hands down . Smoothness is not even comparable. They also back their warranty 100%. Bought a refurbished one with a 5 year warranty, 4 years later a small part cracked and they shipped it to themselves and sent me it back all fixed within 5 business days for free of course .
We've got that exact model, and we've had it for about 5 years or so. My wife swears by Vitamix now. It's about the only brand she's loyal to. ... The E310 doesn't have all the pre-programmed features of the other models, but we prefer it that way.
It is all about your use case. I have a Vitamix and it's great. However, in my vacation home I have a KitchenAid and it works great for half the price. If you are going to do nut butters and some other things where it's hard to achieve a creamy consistency, then yes go for the vitamix. But if you're just going to be doing smoothies, sauces, cocktails, and things like that, there're many other blenders that are cheaper that will also give you great results
I have had mine for 15 years and I love it. I would not grind coffee in it. Everything will smell/taste of coffee due to the coffee oils.
