It makes perfect rice and plays a song on startup and when it's finished. Not just rice either. Rice and beans. Jambalaya rice with sausage. Saffron rice and veggies. Whatever you like. I even made a cheesecake in it. It's easy to clean, has a retractable cord and carrying handle. It's just a fine tuned machine. Adorable and efficient.

I wouldn't worry about the clock dying, you're more likely going to wear out or scratch the inner pot first anyways. Fact of the matter is that it is repairable, and it does make consistently good rice with minimal effort.

One is supposed to have a 200 dollar rice cooker serviced or replaced because a battery isn't replaceable?. AN FW that is acceptable

I bought my NS-ZCC10 about two years ago. I use it ~10 times a week. Never had a problem.

I have had the 240v version of the NS-ZCC10 for about 10 years without any issues. We cook rice nearly every single day so it's probably done 3000 cooks. It's quiet, utterly reliable, easily enough for a family of 4. Don't put the bowl in the dishwasher and don't forget to clean the removable bit in the lid.

It seems that the dead battery is mostly just annoying. You have to reset the clock when you plug it in (it doesn't remember the time). There's a video on youtube on how to do the battery repair. Just seeing how the guy had to Macguyver the screwdriver to access the insides pretty much means Zojirushi doesn't want you to fix it yourself ... But I will say it surely isn't a 5 stars in my book.

It is one of only a few Zojirushi rice cookers still made in Japan. I bought one for a gift about a year ago and they still love it.

So I tried using the pre washed setting and the rice is still dry. I guess I got a defect or something happened during shipping idk.

Problem is, even though I'm following all the directions (at least, I'm 99.9% sure I am), I'm unable to get results that are even close to my $4 microwave cooker. Every batch of rice comes out pasty, sticky, and overcooked.

โœ… What Works

  • Neuro Fuzzy logic monitors actual temperature throughout cooking and adjusts timing automatically โ€” it compensates for pot fill level, ambient temperature, and rice variety without any manual input, which produces consistently perfect results across jasmine, short-grain, and sushi rice.
  • The keep-warm function holds rice at optimal serving temperature for up to 12 hours without drying out or developing the bottom crust that lower-end cookers produce. Families who cook rice in the morning and eat through the day find this genuinely useful.
  • Three texture settings (regular, softer, harder) let users tune rice texture to preference โ€” a detail that matters significantly for sushi rice applications or for households with different texture preferences.
  • The retractable power cord, fold-down handle, and steam cap that collects condensate rather than dripping it on the counter reflect years of design iteration โ€” small details that distinguish this from budget cookers in daily use.

โš ๏ธ Worth Knowing

  • At $229 CAD, this costs four to five times more than basic rice cookers that produce adequate results. The premium is real in consistency and longevity, but it's hard to justify unless rice is a daily staple or texture quality matters significantly.
  • The 5.5-cup (uncooked) capacity produces around 10 cups cooked โ€” which is ample for 2โ€“4 people but limiting for large families or anyone who batch-cooks rice for the week. The NS-ZCC18 (10-cup) is available at a higher price.
  • Brown rice takes approximately 90 minutes in this unit โ€” significantly longer than white rice and slower than some competing models. If brown rice is your primary use, check whether the cook time fits your schedule.
  • The interior plastic lid requires removal and separate cleaning after each cook โ€” it accumulates steam residue and should be rinsed to prevent buildup. Some owners find this extra step inconvenient compared to simpler lid designs.
ClearPick Verdict

The Zojirushi NS-ZCC10 is the definitive rice cooker for households that eat rice daily and care about texture consistency โ€” its Neuro Fuzzy logic eliminates the variability that even experienced cooks encounter with stovetop methods, and the 12-hour keep-warm holds rice without drying. The price is genuinely high for a single-task appliance, and buyers who cook rice occasionally won't find value at this tier. For households where rice is a daily staple โ€” particularly those cooking Japanese, Korean, or Southeast Asian cuisines โ€” this is the appliance that makes everything else easier.
