Whatever the cause for the rattle and loss of treble, it sounds awful. Almost certainly a defect. Not sure how user error could do that.

It's a product meant for outdoors so it's supposed to be portable and durable. Built like a tank. Which means no hanging parts. Apart from the string used to hang it on things.

the 7 is louder (about +20% at the same volume level), and has noticably more bass. BUT, the Flip 3 is no slouch and the difference is not night and day. ... for some bass heavy songs (e.g. Protection by Massive Attack), the difference is very noticable, and I can say I really enjoyed it more on the 7.

I had a flip 4 for years and the battery has given up recently so i thought i'd just buy the new flip 7 since i was happy with the flip 4. I'm sure it's not supposed to sound like this ... Tbh it also sounds like a mechanical defect so probably I won't be able to avoid sending it back
