Wow, the rumours were true, the X1 Carbon series will supplant the X1 Nano series. Really excited about this, given you've got the weight of the Nano combined with a larger battery and screen. Am sceptical that the OLED display will be as power efficient as the outgoing LCD options though, based on Notebookcheck's own testing of OLED machines compared with the low-power IPS panels you used to get in the X1 series.
Ugh, Copilot+ key in place of the right Ctrl key. Hopfully that's reconfigurable in BIOS.

Yeah, OLED is too much power drain, too much PWM flicker, and probably also burn-in after thousands of hours.... can we have a quality high-res IPS panel?
I just got the same setup (165u/64GB), but I'm going to keep what I have. I don't like the 32GB max memory limit. Plus I don't want to wait. lol
X1 Nano G1 is 293 x 208 x 14-17 mm, X1C13 Aura is 313 x 214 x 8-14, so it's 20mm wider and 6mm longer. In comparison, older gen 9-11 design was 315 x 223 x 15, or 22mm wider and 15mm longer. So it's getting closer to Nano size - still, it's a 14" vs. 13". Maybe X13 Gen 4/5 then?
Desperately hoping for a 90 or 120hz higher res IPS screen option -- or a much improved OLED panel with less brutal flicker. That was the deal breaker for me on the Gen 12.
I wish they could start offering a WQHD low power IPS option that is still 400 nits and 100% SRGB. Feels like it'd be a great compromise vs OLED, especially with these more capable iGPUs.
this is an incredibly stupid reason though. a bit more battery won't increase the weight by enough to matter.
Imo, **starting** price of €2,700 is "a bit too much" for a laptop with integrated graphics and MAX RAM of 32GB. Otherwise laptop looks great. Finally a decent screen with a decent refresh rate (120hz).
I've been waiting to buy a Lunar Lake X1 but the fingerprint reader as one of the bottom row keys is super unfortunate for me. I use the print screen button on my Gen 6 as the compose key since I write in multiple languages that use diacritics. Without it I'll have to sacrifice another key, and the loss of symmetry moving from the home row to left/right control is also annoying.
Look up PWM flicker. It's a high frequency flicker used to lower apparent brightness on OLEDs. It's not exactly noticeable to the naked eye but it does cause eyestrain in some people if the frequency is too low -- apparently I'm one of them. Had some friends look at the screen and most agreed it was odd, and some but not all of them experienced what I did (soreness, headache, etc.) used it for a week and then returned it.
