Retired my old Weber gas for a Napoleon and it's been great. Got the sear station too but actually I've been using their charcoal insert a bunch. Great taste profile for foods that need it and can have the last internal burner going for other stuff. Hybrid-fuel dual-zone kind of solution.

Huge fan of the napolean for this reason. Plus I can get up to 700 degrees on the main grill just with the 4 burners. Not even using the infrared burner in the back. The side sear works great with a cast iron as well.

Twice a summer I hire a task rabbit to clean my grill. Its usually some college kid and for about $50 they always get the thing f****** spotless and shiny, beer money for them and a few hours and a lot of elbow grease saved for me. Best money i spend all year i swear

Weird I have the same issue. I assumed the guys who put it together screwed up. I just use a lighter when I do need it, which to be honest, is not often. Though I did have a 2 1/2 inch prime ribeye tonight. One minute each side, perfect

Got it earlier this summer, excellent bbq! Get the Ambiance edition if possible, the side burner will be stainless steel as well.

I've got the same exact one for about 2 months and absolutely love it. Use it as often as I can. Mine is connected to NG and have no problems hitting 700* and the side sear does a great job. Only thing I'm trying to get better at is the crispy skin on my chicken wings in the rotisserie basket. I'm happy, but feel like I could get better.

Got one a year ago and LOVE it. The only thing I have not used yet is the rotisserie. I really need to test it out.

For some unknown reason my rear infrared burner is not "infrareding". There's a flame, and it's heating the metal casing partially, but the infrared part is definitely not happening, just usual burner flames, similar to the main burners.

the Napoleon Prestige 500 just seems like a better product. It has 4 burners instead of 3 with the Genesis. An infrared side sear station instead of just a regular side burner. Has a rear burner & rotisserie kit. AND has a better manufacturer warranty.

Had grill assembled and delivered by retailer. The igniter button to light the side infrared burner and the rear burner is not working right. Sometimes it will spark (barely) and I can light the side burner with it if I hold the button down for a while. I have not YET been able to light the rear burner with the igniter button.

It's all 4 screws in all 4 holes. So it's not just one thread that's defective. I got the screws to go in just enough to hold it on, but I obviously don't trust that will hold long term.

โœ… What Works

  • Owners consistently report reaching 700ยฐF and get strong sear results
  • Rated better value than comparable Weber Genesis models โ€” more burners, better warranty
  • Versatile โ€” some owners run it hybrid with a charcoal insert for extra flavor

โš ๏ธ Worth Knowing

  • Igniter for the side and rear infrared burners frequently reported as unreliable or non-functional
  • Rear burner sometimes fails to produce true infrared heat, acting like a standard burner
  • A workaround (manual lighter) is often needed for the affected burners
ClearPick Verdict

Owners are largely happy with the Prestige 500 but a recurring hardware issue holds it back. Of 12 mentions, 6 positive, 3 mixed, 3 negative. The dominant complaint is the igniter for the side infrared and rear burners โ€” several owners report it sparking weakly or failing to light the rear burner at all, with one saying the infrared burner just produces "usual burner flames" instead of true infrared heat. Owners who don't hit the issue are enthusiastic, citing consistent 700ยฐF heat, a strong sear station, and a better warranty than comparable Weber models. Good for owners willing to keep a lighter handy as a workaround for occasional ignition quirks; if a flawless rear infrared burner out of the box matters most, be aware this is a recurring complaint.
