In all honesty, it's reading like you just had awful luck and got a DOA/faulty unit. NOCOs entire product line has been pretty reliable within my circle of car-nuts and EDC-community, from folks like my buddy using their trickle-chargers to maintain his multi-million-dollar fleet of track-toys to the likes of Steve Fisher, giving them an unsolicited plug a few years ago in the dead of winter on his FB page, when he had to use it (yet again) after a class.

Well had a dead battery in my jeep liberty sport 3.7l. The Gb40 wouldn't even turn over the engine, didn't even try. Maybe I've got a deflective unit... Update I did get the pack to work I'm not sure what helped more the fact I plugged it in to charge even though it was showing full. Maybe leaving it inside overnight was it or maybe it wasn't -2 outside when I tried it. It still took 3 trys before the engine even thought about cranking over.

I got it initially because the 12v battery in the Gen 5 likes to randomly die. The NOCO Boost GB40 for $80 right now. I always plug this thing when people ask which one to get. I just leave it my trunk. I'll randomly jump strangers' cars with it too.

Turns out I didn't have to wait long to try it out - just a week after I got it, my battery died. I tried to start my car with the GB40, but while it got the lights to come on, the engine just wouldn't quite turn over, and after 3 attempts, the Noco's charge was depleted. My car doesn't have a huge engine or anything (Subaru Forester), but it gets pretty cold where I live. It was about 2°F when I was trying to jump my car...
